As we begin to part ways, I’ll gladly walk in the opposite direction, no I won’t look back, seeing you again is not my intention, you misled many, you stole away dreams, you manipulated people, you kept so many blind to your deceit…
God knows too many are living in The Matrix and your presence highlighted it, it’s hard to stay the same when you see the truth, it’s like trying to dim the light when it’s blazing through the window on the roof.
Obviously I’ve learnt a lot from you, a lot about myself and others too, a lot of skills & knowledge, opportunities, some new, 2020 vision, a new age, a new chapter, a new stage, ‘New normal’ the new phrase…
Once you entered you carried on the terrible bushfires in Australia, you introduced your evil arranged marriage to Rona, giving her a crown titling her en español Corona. You forced the world to attend your wedding, while striking drones, you opened wide the door to murders, BLM protests, racial tensions, rise of homelessness, loss of income, financial dependence.
Delayed celebrations, new rules, curfews, lockdowns, mask wearing, many unseen smiles, many unseen frowns. You bombarded people’s minds with constant reminders of your dreadful wife, she caused worldwide chaos and to keep this up, she sacrificed normal life.
Brutally like every year, sadly many lives were taken, may they rest in peace and don’t let it be mistaken; we will remember George Floyd, Caroline Flack, Sean Connery, Bill Withers, Naya Rivera, Chadwick Boseman, Barbara Windsor, Kobe Bryant and so many more souls, the list seems endless, that’s very apparent. Too many names, statistically set as numbers, it feels outrageous as these were a lot of lives, people no longer here, but collectively we won’t let their stories disappear…
You stole many lives around the world, we shared in this grief too, we lost our Angel, a difficult year, no words can truly express how much pain sorrow causes, how much you long for them to be near.
Even though you allowed there to be great times under your tyrannical control, people endured a lot of pain, yet I’ll let the good memories flow…people discovered themselves, some found love, celebrated birthdays, children were born, weddings brought couples together, new businesses came alive, adventure was found, graduation, inner growth reborn, people are alive, life is a gift, each day we have it, we will honour it.
2020 don’t be naïve, we don’t need you anymore, good times aren’t enough to keep you in our lives, we’re done, leave as quickly as you came, pick up your stuff and go, without you, we will survive!
Okay, 2020 we will never forget you, in fact you will go down in history, but it’s time for you to go, your relative 2021 is set to take over literally. Will they give us another year of misery? Can we even can trust your Gregorian calendar family? Don’t even blow a kiss to me!
2020 you’ve hurt too many people, memories we don’t want to retrieve, so hear me loud and clear without you we will survive, so just leave! You were never a friend to me, exit now, you have no choice, it’s part of your destiny.
Obnoxious as you are, only thinking of yourself, yet on your way out take your friends Anxiety, Fear, Disillusion, no one wants them here and take away that fool Confusion!
So as the clocks strikes down and the countdown begins, I won’t even acknowledge you, I’m letting you go now, take back your things! It’s better I leave you in my own way, no turning back, without you there’s still tomorrow, to be honest my heart left you months ago when you broke it with sorrow.
We will enter the new year with hope, let our songs of cheer drown you out, we are now stronger, more wiser, more glorious, we are have woken up, we are victorious!
